Why a TikTok creator needs a website at all
TikTok is where people find you. It's a poor place to show someone everything you've made.
Your profile grid shows thumbnails with no titles. Anyone without the app gets nudged to install it. And the feed is built around this week: a video from six months ago that explained something perfectly is, for most people, gone.
A website fixes the parts TikTok isn't designed for. Each video sits on its own page with its own link. A brand can browse your work in a normal browser. A fan can send a friend one specific video without the friend needing an account.
Connecting TikTok
- In ShowHub, choose TikTok in the setup wizard, or add it later from Settings → Connectors.
- You'll be sent to TikTok to approve the connection. Sign in with the account you post from.
- Back in ShowHub, your videos import with their captions, cover images, dates and lengths. Check Dashboard → Episodes to see them.
If the connection ever expires (TikTok asks apps to reconnect from time to time), ShowHub flags it on the Health page and in Connectors. Reconnecting takes a few seconds.
Making short videos into useful pages
Short videos have a text problem. A typical caption is a few words, a few hashtags and maybe an emoji. That's thin for a web page, and gives search engines little to go on.
Two things help:
- Transcripts (Pro). ShowHub writes out what you say in each video and puts it on the page. For talking videos, recipes, tutorials and explainers, that turns a 40-second clip into a paragraph of real, searchable text. Check transcripts on very short or music-heavy clips; there's less speech to work with.
- Clearer captions. You don't have to give up hashtags, but leading with a plain sentence ("Three houseplants that survive dark apartments") gives both TikTok and your website something better to show.
Bring the rest of your work
Most creators aren't only on TikTok. Connect Instagram, YouTube, or a podcast feed as extra sources and they all land on the same site, each video and episode on its own page. That site becomes the one link you can put everywhere, including your TikTok bio.
